The creation I am wearing in this video is called "Morpho" - named after my favorite type of butterfly. It's my interpretation of a butterfly's POV while searching for flowers - a blur of kaliedoscopic, technicolor, symmetrical, vibrational radiance. I constructed the eye top in 2016 and then dyed/sewed the rest of the costume in 2017. Morpho butterflies are known for "flashing" - a technique they use to confuse predators. This happens when they open their wings to reveal a striking iridescent blue and then close them to show a camouflaged underside that hides them amongst the trees. This optical illusion makes it very difficult for potential predators to know exactly where they are at any given moment... ;) Materials: hand-dyed fabric, curtain rods, jump rings, and lenticular blinking eye cards
